Municipal Court Municipal Court Judge
Judge Tucker previously served the City for the past six year as Public Defender. At the present time, he also engages in the private practice of law in his office located in Rainbow City. Prior to opening his own private practice, Judge Tucker was employed in the field of Law and Law Enforcement for over thirty years. His Law Enforcement career began as an Etowah County Deputy under the late Dewey Colvard and Felton Yates. He then went on to serve as an Alabama State Trooper, assigned to the Highway Patrol Division in Marshall County. While enforcing the law as a Trooper, Judge Tucker attended law school and received his Juris Doctor Degree and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1982. He was then transferred to Montgomery where he worked in the legal unit for the Department of Public Safety, serving as a Special Assistant Attorney General for approximately seventeen years. Judge Tucker was also a charter member of the Alabama State Trooper Honor Guard and the first State Trooper to become an attorney while retaining his commission as a Trooper. He attained the rank of Trooper/Captain prior to his retirement in 1998. Judge Tucker is married to the former Theresa Trotter, from Walker County in Jasper, Alabama. Mrs. Tucker also retired with twenty-five years of service from the Department of Public Safety in 1998, where she served as a Police Communications Supervisor. She currently works as a legal secretary in her husband’s private law office. Judge and Mrs. Tucker have two sons, Don and Dan; and a daughter, Alana, who is a senior at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. |
