SPECIAL-CALLED COUNCIL MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Joey Statum called the Special-Called Council Meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
INVOCATION
The invocation was led by Mayor Statum.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Statum.
ROLL CALL
City Clerk Cindy Beshears called the roll.
Present:

Joseph Hutchins
Shane Hamm
Danny Garnett
Mayor Joey Statum
Councilman Keith Clay was not in attendance.
A quorum was declared present.
NEW BUSINESS
Approval of Alcohol License (Off-Premises Beer and Wine) – Johnson’s
A motion was made by Joseph Hutchins to approve the application for an alcohol license for off-premises sales of beer and wine for Johnson’s.
Seconded by Shane Hamm.
Discussion: None
Vote:
All in favor: Aye
Opposed: None
Result: Motion carried unanimously.
The Mayor invited representatives from Johnson’s to speak; no comments were made.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Council members expressed excitement and support for the new business.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
• The next Planning Commission meeting will be held Monday, April 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
• The next Regular Council Meeting will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
• “Dinner and a Movie on the Lawn” will be held April 17, 2026, at The Landing. Food trucks will begin at 6:00 p.m., and the movie (Happy Feet) will begin at dark.
• Food donations to benefit the hungry may be dropped off at Southside Baptist Church and Southside Public Library. Donations will be distributed by the Etowah Baptist Mission Center.
• The Pastors, Ministers, and Evangelists Breakfast will be held Monday, April 13, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. at the Community Center.

A motion to adjourn was made by Shane Hamm and seconded by Joesph Hutchins.
