STATE OF ALABAMA

The City Council of the City of Southside convened for a special-called council meeting at the Southside City Hall on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 12 noon to canvass the election results from the September 23, 2025, Municipal Runoff Election. The meeting opened with Joseph Hutchins leading in prayer.

On roll call, the following answered present: Mayor Dana Snyder, Council Members: Danny Garnett, Keith Clay, Joseph Hutchins, and John Hatley. With a quorum being present, the meeting was opened for the transaction of business.

The envelope containing the Canvassing Board set of election tapes from the September 23, 2025, municipal runoff election was opened, and the results were read aloud by Cindy Beshears, Acting City Clerk. The Acting City Clerk opened the envelope from the Etowah County Board of Registrars to obtain the record of provisional ballots cast in the election. The Board of Registrars certifies which ballots should or shouldn’t be counted. The Provisional box of ballots was opened. There were 4 provisional ballots cast at the 9/23/2025 election. The Etowah County Board of Registrars reviewed them and provided their findings to the council. Of the 4 provisional ballots, none were certified to be counted. No provisional ballots are reflected in the totals below. A total of all votes cast was recorded and confirmed by all present. The provisional ballot envelopes that were not certified were not opened and were maintained in the provisional box as part of the record of election. The following is a final count of votes cast in the September 2025 election.

A motion was made by Joseph Hutchins to certify the election results and to approve the totals as recorded in the canvass resolution. Danny Garnett made a second. The Roll Call Vote was All Ayes on the approval of the resolution. (Resolution #0-063-2025)

The council then signed the certificates of election for Joey Statum as the mayor, and Keith Clay as City Council, place #1.

Mayor Snyder made the following announcements:

The next regular city council meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 14^th at 6:00 p.m.

The next Planning Commission meeting is Monday, October 13^th, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.

With there being no further business to come before the council, Don Steward made a motion to adjourn at 12:08 p.m., with a second from Joseph Hutchins. Meeting adjourned at 12:09 p.m.
