MAYOR'S OFFICE

The past two years have been filled with challenges and accomplishments for our City. The challenges have been met, and we have grown together as a city. The City Council and I stand ready to embrace any future challenges we, as a City, may face and to celebrate any future accomplishments.

Southside Landing was opened earlier this year and is being enjoyed by many. It is a perfect location to launch your boat, fish, play on the playground and dine at the newest location of Blackstone. We have already had numerous fishing tournaments take place here and with many more scheduled for next year. As I have stated, we aim to continue improving this area for your enjoyment.

One of my top priorities for our City is infrastructure. A significant step in reaching this goal was the City recently breaking ground on our new modernized Fire Station. We look forward to its completion, thereby better serving our community. Another major step regarding infrastructure is purchasing the land between the bridges, which will help acquire a new Northbound bridge. The State is currently in the design stage for making this a reality. We have paved over 30 roads this past year, the largest paving project in Southside's history.

We have sought input from our citizens on Southside's Strategic Plan and received a good response. This long-range plan will help us focus on our city's needs and create a citizen-friendly environment while attracting new businesses and tourism to our area. We look forward to many exciting announcements in 2023!

I am appreciative and proud of the wonderful group of the City of Southside employees who work daily to make this a better place to work, live and play. They are dedicated and eager to serve our community.

I had the privilege of serving Southside for four years as a Councilwoman and the last two years as your Mayor. It is my honor to be your Mayor, and I assure you that all of the citizens of Southside are and will continue to be my priority. The City Council and I will continue to seek to meet the needs of our City not only today but for our future and to move our City into the future while preserving our values and history.
